Who is D. Mark Minnick?
Before anything else, I’m a husband, a dad, and a neighbor in District 4. Most days, you’ll find me working to protect and serve residents right here in Terre Haute. Most evenings you will find me with my kids and family, likely in the car on the way to a gym or field!I’ve lived in Vigo County for almost 42 years. When Madi and I were married in 2009, we bought our first house in District 4. In 2012, we purchased land and built our forever home in 2014 and Madi says we are never leaving! This is the place we chose to call home because of the relationships and opportunities for our family. What I value most about living here is the people. Hard working, trustworthy, authentic people that want the best for our community.Professionally, my career is in law enforcement and I have served this community for over 19 years. For the last 17 years, I have been employed by the Terre Haute City Police Department. Currently, I am a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division. My work has taught me the importance of listening, problem-solving, accountability, and teamwork. Those lessons and core values shape how I think about responsibility and decision-making, especially when it comes to serving this community.My family is a constant reminder of what really matters. Being a husband to Madi, and a father to our three children, reminds me every day that the decisions made at the local level affect real people, real budgets, and real futures. I believe strongly in honesty, commitment, and ethical action. I try to bring that into everything I do. And if elected, those core values would be paramount in serving the citizens of District 4.When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. My children are involved in many school activities at Riley and Honey Creek, athletics, and raising our own 4-H livestock projects. Having a front row seat to watch the youth of this community makes me excited for our future, but also shines a light on the importance of decisions to provide a future that makes Vigo County a place where our youth choose to call home as they become adults.I have decided to run for County Council because I care deeply about the future of Vigo County. Like many of you, I care deeply about fiscally conservative decisions, while still working to grow our community, and improve the quality of life for our citizens. I believe local government works best when it’s thoughtful, transparent, and focused on the people it serves.Thank you for the encouragement and support shown. I’m looking forward to listening, learning, and getting to know everyone in the weeks and months ahead.
